An easy beer recipe that delivers every single time. This Belgian Pale Ale recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Belgian Pale Ale, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

The Belgian Pale Ale is the everyday beer of the Antwerp region, an unshowy amber ale that Belgians drink the way others drink a lager. De Koninck is the classic example. It is malt-driven, with toasty and biscuit notes and a modest fruity spice from the yeast, and the hopping stays low so nothing overwhelms the balance. Less intense than a dubbel or a strong golden, it is built for a second and third glass.

Saaz and Styrian Goldings add a light, herbal bitterness that suits the toasty malt.

A Note On Substitutions

This kit includes Crystal 20 in place of the recipe's Caravienne Malt; Crystal 50 in place of the recipe's Caramunich® II; Great Chit in place of the recipe's Carapils®. We stock dry yeast only, so SafAle BE-256 (Belgian Abbey) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's Belgian Ardennes (Wyeast Labs 3522).
